As the largest economy in the world, USA retains the top spot for almost all sorts of consumer economies. The mobile market is no different as well!

USA is the largest and by far the most advanced smartphone markets in the world. The country is also one of the few countries with the largest penetration of smartphones globally. As per the statistics of 2017, USA has almost 68% smartphone penetration rates, which is higher than most of the world countries. The mobile penetration rate stood at just 40% in 2012, whereas, the 68% penetration today shows the impact of smartphone in USA’s mobile market.

As per the estimates, in 2017 alone, more than 220 million smartphones have been added to the USA mobile market. This number represent almost 10% of all the smartphone users in the world in 2017, quite clearly making USA the largest and most potent smartphone market worldwide. Last year, there were around 190 million smartphone units shipped in North America, whereas, the smartphone sales solely in USA amounts to over USD 50 billion in 2016.

As per the estimates, iPhone and Samsung remains the top brands in USA market. Two smartphone manufacturing giants have long battled for the supremacy in USA mobile market and have occasionally retained the top spot for few months before slipping to the second spot. By far, iPhone has been the leader in total number of sales in the country, while Samsung lags behind closely at second spot. As far as the OS preference is concerned, Android retains the top spot comfortably, whereas, iPhone’s iOS stands at the second spot.  Apart from Android and iOS, other operating systems including Blackberry, Windows etc. stood just below 3% in USA’s smartphone market.
