  • This is even cheaper than the OnePlus 8, which was released earlier and is being sold around $100 more than the Samsung A71 5G.
  • The latest 5G enabled smartphone from Samsung will be available through T-Mobile and Sprint, whereas, AT&T and Verizon will start offering the deliver later this summer.

On Friday, June 19, 2020, Samsung launched its latest smartphone Galaxy A71 5G. The device caught the eyes of users and smartphone geeks for its prices which makes it the cheapest 5G enabled smartphone yet, available in the US market. The device is offered at $599.99 before the expected subsidies from the carriers, and as a shock to many users, the A71 5G is cheaper than OnePlus 8, which is considered as an affordable smartphone.

The A-series from Samsung comes as a mid-range device, against its flagship S series which are more expensive. Obviously, the expensive price for Galaxy S series like S20+ and S20 Ultra comes with more features and functionalities including support for faster 5G wave networks, which isn’t supported by the cheaper alternative A71 5G. However, practically not many smartphone users require a super-fast mmWave 5G at the moment, so it’s only rational for users to go after the most affordable 5G enabled smartphone from the smartphone giant.

The lower-end price for the A-series comes with its limitations, including an all-plastic body instead of a more posh metallic body that if offered with the S-series smartphones. Also, the A-series come with the mid-range Qualcomm processors, instead of the top-of-the-line chipsets that power the S-series. Nonetheless, as for the design, the A71 5G comes with a large 6.7-inch screen, offers plenty of storage, and supports fast charging. The cheapest 5G enabled smartphone comes with multiple rear camera-setup for pretty decent close-up shots.

While A71 5G is only available with T-Mobile and Sprint at the moment, the device is expected to be available with other carriers including AT&T and Verizon later this summer.
